Biomass Capacity Study

Solution Provided | Investigated the capability of increasing the use of biomass as a fuel source and assessed the required infrastructure to optimise the process.

Disciplines | Mechanical Engineering, Process Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Structural Engineering, Design

Carnac – Project Delivery Services Pty Ltd (Carnac) provided engineering services to investigate the use and capacity requirements of Biomass as a fuel source in a Multi-Fuel-Cogeneration (MFC) power station. Carnac’s assessment included the following:

  • Categorised the project into short term (90 ktpa within three years), medium term (180 ktpa within eight years) and long term (360 ktpa sustainable beyond eight years);

  • Performed a facility site trial to review infrastructure for the existing capacity;

  • Investigated supply options to match the possible demand; and

  • Delivered all design decisions with reference to the Australian Government’s Direct Action Plan and the 2015 Paris Agreement.
