Mechanical Engineering
Our mechanical engineering team has had significant experience in providing fit-for-purpose solutions for a variety of industries that span across the mining, mineral processing and oil & gas sectors. Carnac makes use of robust simulation and modelling softwares to aid in options analysis, which include:
- Fluid Flow Design Software (FFDS)
- Hytran Waterhammer Software
- Flite Piping Systems Fluid Flow
- Helix Delta T Conveyor Design Program
- Rocky DEM Software
Our team has been involved in the inspection and verification of a variety of mechanical equipment that includes vessels, pumps, pipework, plant equipment and bulk materials handling equipment.
Carnac were engaged to assess the operating limits of an alumina refinery in relation to its environmental licence restrictions.
Carnac’s assessment was successful in providing the client with a go-forward strategy to improve the operation’s return on investment whilst ensuring environmental limits are adhered to.
Carnac identified several cost reduction opportunities for an alumina refinery via the completion of a Maximum Technical Capability Assessment (debottlenecking study). Carnac further developed the opportunities at a concept level and selected which opportunity to take forward for a prefeasibility study.
Carnac was engaged to investigate events associated with the bursting of heat exchanger tubes and identified root-cause of failures.
Carnac produced and assessed a number of concepts to mechanise and streamline the process of removing and replacing disc filters at an Alumina Refinery.
The refinery-wide extraction steam distribution system was hydraulically modelled to determine network performance under certain operational scenarios to enable better operations practices.
Carnac was engaged to review the original concentrate slurry pipeline designs and optimisation plans and provide recommendations for throughput improvement.
