Pressure relief scenarios were considered for a Flash Vessel with a focus on the potential line-up of the feed pumps. The scenarios were assessed by considering the accumulated pressure attained at the vessels as a result of dead heading the system with no relief.
Once over-pressurisation scenarios were identified, further investigation using Fluid Flow modelling allowed relief flow rates to be determined. This provided the scenario that is to be considered for sizing the PSV.
Recommendations were to implement revised PSV blowdown design.
