Carnac – Project Delivery Services Pty Ltd (Carnac) was engaged to assess the Feed Conveyor system through a Head Chute, Drum Scrubber Feed Chute and into a Drum Scrubber. The investigation included the impact of upgrades and modifications made to the Feed Chute liners since a prior installation, and Discrete Element Method (DEM) modelling to assess the impact of various lines configurations on chute wear patterns. DEM models and photos of the Feed Chute were used to assess wear performance.

Carnac made a series of recommendations to extend the wear life of the lines from 10 weeks to at least 12 weeks. Carnac recommended reverting back to the original design spoon chute without rock ledges and replacing the existing chromium white iron internal liners with tungsten carbide weld overlay plate liners.
