Carnac – Project Delivery Services Pty Ltd (Carnac) was engaged to perform a hydraulic analysis of a client’s slurry pump and assess the effectiveness of a revised suction design proposed by the client.
Fluid Flow Design Software (FFDS) and mechanical analysis was used to:
Complete an assessment of the current pump and tank arrangement to quantify the existing Net Positive Suction Head Available (NPSHA) to the pump;
Perform hydraulic analysis of the client’s revised design; and
Provide a NPSHA comparison to the existing arrangement.
The FFDS results were used to develop recommendations for an improved suction geometry which effectively reduces or eliminates the issues seen on the client’s site.
